Tockwotton Home

The Tockwotton Home, currently located on the East Side of Providence, will be constructing a new, 148-bed assisted living facility with the look and feel of a seaside resort adjacent to Bold Point Park in the southern portion of the Waterfront District.  The $41 million nursing and assisted living center will replace its existing 140-year old building in the Fox Point neighborhood in Providence.  The five-story structure will have three components: an assisted living area for 66 residents, a separate component offering up to 30 residents with Alzheimer’s or impaired memory problems and a skilled nursing care unit for as many as 52 residents.  The Tockwotton Home will be comprised of 125,000 square feet and will employ 100 people on a budget of $8 million.  The facility was approved by the Commission in 2005; revised plans were approved in 2007 due to delays resulting from the proposed relocation of the power lines that cross the site.  Although there have been setbacks due to additional federal requirements, construction is anticipated to begin in 2010.

Tockwotton will also be donating a waterfront recreation parcel to the City that will serve as an extension of Bold Point Park.
